Solving the Youth Reading Crisis

Reading hasn't had its fair share of innovation. As a result, 66% of all students in the US cannot read at their grade level. By allowing our youth to fall behind in reading, we are allowing them to underachieve.

Literacy is not just about getting through school. It affects how we progress as people, how we grasp new ideas, and how we communicate with others. Literacy is the basis for achievement in all areas of adulthood, from professional to personal. And with the well of readers drying up, we are at risk of being deficient in the next class of leaders that will usher in advances for humanity.

As an author, I naturally care a lot about this problem. However, I’m aware that reading is boring. Illiteracy afflicts us because there are more interesting things to capture our attention. $1Q9X exists to change this problem.

How $1Q9X Can Change Reading

1Q9X is tackling the youth illiteracy epidemic by fundamentally changing how reading is experienced. We are building a collective of great minds to help us reimagine the reading experience beyond the book and into mixed-reality formats.

Reading needs fresh ideas. And we feel the best way to pursue this massive problem is by building a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization).

DAOs are great for organizing people across the world for a common purpose. The $1Q9X DAO will be a place for idea-share and experimentation. A place where anyone can share their ideas on how to make reading exciting and fresh.

We’ve seen the blockchain completely reinvent video game models through blockchain gaming, so why can’t the same be true for reading?

1Q9X is ushering in the era of blockchain-based reading experiences. And you’re now part of this organization.

How Many Tokens You’re Receiving

After much deliberation, I’ve decided that I’ll be sending you 200 $1Q9X tokens per copy of The Metaverse Handbook you pre-ordered. As a gesture of appreciation for believing in this project when nobody else was, this is approximately equal to the cost of the book. So thank you again for being the earliest supporter of $1Q9X.

But that’s not all you’ll be receiving.

I want you to be more than just a token holder. I also want you to be able to participate in the $1Q9X DAO and play a role in how this project evolves. Because this isn’t quite enough tokens needed to access the DAO, I’ll be creating and sending you a special POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) that will grant you admission into the DAO. Think of the POAP as a backstage pass.
